I need a Dancing Camel!

But I think it has too many Humps?

I was going through iTunes trying to use up a few Dollars of credit. Remembering how much I have enjoyed Jonathan Richmond and The Modern Lovers live Album. It was great for car journeys with tunes such as; I'm a Little Airplane, I'm a Little Dinosaur and the never ending Ice Cream Man. I found this little Gem which I had forgotten about.

I hate Nazi's

The Archaeologist figure has been completed for months while I thought about a gang for him. He is a Copplestone figure with a WestWind head. The eight riflemen and Belgium Officer have been sitting on my desk cleaned up and based while I got distracted by other projects and was not quite sure what to do with them all. Then it hit me,  SA Troops conducting field trials on newly designed uniforms (sounds like a reasonable cover). Any treasure stumbled across (like the Ark of the Covenant) would of course be discreetly smuggled away. I then added a Foundry Officer figure (with Eagle insignia removed and lower pocket trimmed to an early pattern), a Pilot figure and the female Archaeologist converted from an Artizan figure.

Edit, since my friends keep referring to my Leader as Herr Flick and the Female as Helga, I have decided to rename them as such. I keep forgetting what their names are anyway!

So the gang so far comprises;
Archaeologist's Fraulein Helga and Herr Pfister.
Designer/Diplomat Hugo Boche.
Airman Germann Hoering.
Oberleutnant Flick
Eight Riflemen.

Mummy - Pyramid layout explained

I was asked on Lead Adventures if I could give some more details on the layout of my Pyramid. I hope the following explains how the Pyramid works. I sort of made it up as I went along and happily everything seems to function properly for my games.
Percy will be our guide as the danger has passed for the moment. We hope.
Main entrance via ramps
Top down view of ramps
Once the top of the Pyramid has been removed we can see an doorway concealed on the left of the small entrance cavity. Opening this door will release rock balls which will run down the small corridor crushing anyone in the way. The ball will then fall into a small hole which leads down to the lower levels.

Once into the corridor a concealed entrance can be seen in the middle of the dividing wall. (This is opened by removing a small nail and falls by gravity) making anyone standing on that part of the floor fall to the level below which just happens to contain a trench full of Tomb Scorpions or snakes depending on what I have on hand.

View from below which I did not see the need to paint (unfortunately).

Once the Pyramid is removed we can see the Cavern below. I've fudged the ground level as I have not yet worked out a way of cutting out a space in a tabletop.

Now we move outside again to the other entrance concealed within a smaller Pyramid.

We can remove the top of this Pyramid to see the doorway.

This doorway leads by way of tunnels to this doorway in the Cavern below the main ramps, which would be the way the Mummy's followers would use.

Outside again we find a small Needle Monument which has a concealed entranceway used by Tomb robbers.
This leads by way of Tunnels to two holes which have been dug into the cavern wall.

I hope this has been useful for anyone else intending to make something similar.
I'd love to use this for a Demo game at a convention but since Will moved away I have not found anyone really interested in playing Pulp style games locally.

Mummy Mordheim - RIP

Last weekend former Warlord Will Bailey and myself, decided to delete our old Mummy Mordheim Yahoo Group as it was no longer serving any purpose. This group was setup by Will to be a home for our Mummy Pulp games. As Will decided to leave New Zealand about three years ago we were not able to progress the story any further.

I had a look at the old photos on the group and decided that they were no longer worth saving as Yahoo seemed to have shrunk them. Unfortunately I think I may have lost the originals as well when my old computer died so am going to re stage some of the events. I have also sold off my GW Undead Egyptian Army which was used for the games and have only painted up a few replacements so this will be an inaccurate portrayal.

The film crew
The Pyramid

My set of characters were based on the Mummy series of films but more of a family group lead by Archaeologist Professor Percy Cooper (top centre), his daughter Rosemary Cooper (on horse) and son Alfred Cooper (2nd from right). They were accompanied by Terry Mclean, Alfred's batman (3rd from right) Alli Bin Mustafa Egyptian Professor (5th from right) and Captain Jefferson Sanders (to the right of Rosy) with his bodyguard of former US Soldiers.

What follows is a walk through of an entry to a Pyramid.

Percy supervises the entry attempt while a strange old local warns him of dire consequences.
Entry is gained but the first worker is crushed by two balls of rock crushing him.
2nd worker attempts to find way in.
2nd worker falls through trapdoor which opens doorway into top chamber and reveals stairs.
The party files deeper into tomb too eager to worry about losing a few workers.
Percy watches the death struggle of the 2nd worker being eaten by Tomb beetles with some interest.
Percy examines some archifacts while the party fans out to explore.
Meanwhile as everyone is distracted two Mummies seize Rosy from an unobserved doorway.
While the party are trapped in the Tomb chamber a ceremony is taking place in the cavern beneath. Priest Set-tee is trying to reincarnate his bride Sof-farr using Rosy as a sacrifice.
The Archaeologists break through the doorway to attempt to rescue Rosy.
The Americans break in by an entrance lead by the strange old local.
Overhead view of the fight in the cavern.
General view of the cavern fight.
Afterwards a party to celebrate the safe return of Rosy and the success of the dig.
Reinforcements arrive for the next adventure. Armoured Cars; Ying Tong, Tiddle and I-po.
