Congo African Armour

I assembled these models two summers ago. I'm pretty embarrassed about that as I always paint what I assemble, but with my partner moving in and building my games room they were put aside in a box and forgotten about. I am happy with how they turned out but and still thinking about marking them up. I need another two T34's at least and some other soft transport. I also bought a large bag of Elheim figures for this project over the Xmas break. The Armour is from Armourfast, the Soviet Jeeps are from S-model while the AA gun is from Zvezda.

African ImagiNation, another batch done.

I have finished off the Half Tracks which I had previously posted WIP's of. There is also a Follow me Jeep which looks a bit odd on a grey base which will match the runway. I did not see the point of putting it on a matching base to the others and expect the other airfield vehicles will be similarly based. I also made searchlight entirely made of bits from the spares box.

As there has been a lack of decent sun lately I have used my desk to take the photos on.

 These will be the last for awhile as need to get some other things done for a Demo game that I am planning with a couple of friends. These take so long to assemble and correct that I am falling behind with all my other projects.

These are the finished units so far. An Indian UN AA and AT section plus a Belgium Tank section with a Heavy Artillery gun. The bull dozer and M48 are to be repainted or modified later.

UN AA vehicles part 2 plus some WIP's.

I have marked up the UN vehicles with some Letraset sheets I bought years ago and thought I'd lost. The backing sheet is really stiff which made it hard to lay the letters down on the Models. One sheet was so old it kept shattering into small pieces, but I got there in the end after several attempts to put down each letter.

I need to add a command vehicle and several transport vehicles to this unit. I also think it needs more AA weapons as well.

I have made a start on other vehicles assembled from the bits box and Airfix models. The Jeep is either going to be a Command vehicle or an Airport vehicle with a follow-me sign on it. The Airfix half-track with the Matchbox Quad AA gun will be for my Belgium Tank unit.

These old Half-tracks models were first assembled in the mid 70's while I was still at school. I hope they paint up ok. I mounted some excess 6pdrs Israeli style. I intend adding a command vehicle armed with a US 37mm gun.

These ex Soviet Tanks will be for my Independence Force. I added some extra oil drums to the T34/85's.

African ImagiNation 20mm project.

Over the Christmas break I decided that I could not face painting Zulus which had been my plan. I felt a bit bored painting 28mm Humans and wanted to do something different.

In the back of my mind I had wanted to do an AK47 type project in 15mm but I had sold all my painted and unpainted Soviets and decided that 20mm would work just as well. I have a few building that would work in both 15 or 20mm for Airfield buildings or factories, and some tanks that are excess for my WW2 collection. So did a repaint on a few of them plus a few conversions of AA vehicles for a UN unit. The game of Bolt Action that I had played in 20mm convinced me of the usefulness of those rules for this project.

I thought that this would be a cheap project but have spent heaps on Soviet Vehicles and Aircraft plus some more buildings. I also bought a large amount of figures from Elheim.

The premise is that the Congo Conflict has escalated with other Nations claiming land and or sending ex WW2 Tanks and equipment in support of either side. First completed Unit is a Belgium Tank Unit with SP Artillery support.

Almost complete are some Indian UN AA vehicles. I need to find some Letroset or similar UN letters to finish them off. I am planing on remounting the Quad mount and replacing the gun with a Searchlight as I think it looks too ungainly mounted like that.
