Vietnamese civilian transport - Baker Company Wagon.

Next up is the Baker Company wagon. This was also an easy build which just needed some thick brass for an axle. The figures are a good inclusion but look a bit too much like Orc's to me. I also painted up two Water Buffalos as the Wagon had one pulling it. They have bases painted to look like they are standing in water logged ground. (The figure on foot is in the Vespa post.)

Vietnamese civilian transport - Eureka Wagon.

This was a nice easy build which only needed the axles added from brass rod. The Civillians were painted at the same time. It would be a nice touch to have some figures to act as passengers and driver like the Baker Company wagon. The Eureka figures are a little small but my partner is only five foot tall so I guess they are in scale. I think that these sculpts should be bulkier as heads don't really differ that much in real life. I have based these to look like they are moving along a road as I have some West Wind figures to populate the farms and paddies.

Vietnamese civilian transport - Vespa Ape.

First up is a Disney Cars Vespa Ape. I have no idea if these were used in Vietnam but they do look similar to the Lambretta equivalent so I will use it. I'm tempted to add some more when I have made some progress with the other parts of this project.

Mad Max vehicle - Desert Storm.

The second vehicle I've done for my Mad Max type additions to my Future War collection.

The vehicle started out as a Disney Cars 4x4 called "Veiled Threat". Good name but once I painted it in Desert colours I thought "Desert Storm" was more fitting. I have some 1/35th scale Black coloured stencils packed away somewhere which will be used to finish it off.

The build was really simple with the addition of plastic card panels and Jerry Cans to the side. The 50 cals will probably only have a forward firing arc using a flame template, and the driver can use his personal weapon to the sides. I think that it should have a limited supply of ammo due to the difficulty of reloading.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Hi all, I hope everyone is having a great break from work. I am enjoying the break but am busy painting my new games room, even today which is my birthday! I have a few items which I should be able to photograph in a couple of days but my progress is slower than usual which I find happens over the holidays.

3D printing.

At work we were having a clear out before the Xmas break and noticed this. I knew we had started selling 3D printers but I could not even tell you what models we are selling. I have seen a few items that had been printed for a few clients, but did not think that they were good enough for gaming until I saw this.

The doors and windows look big enough for 28mm figures and what really impressed me was that it had interior detail as well. I did not see if they had printed a roof but imagine churning out these on demand for gaming?

Collecting Vietnam items 2.

Yesterday I received a text message about a Helmet and two water bottles from the surplus store. So today being a Saturday I rushed down to get a look at them, despite the Xmas crowds.

The helmet is in a slightly battered condition but has the original paint. It has a chipped liner also in original paint. I checked the dates on the straps which have 67 on the helmet straps and 68 on the sweat band. So good for the Vietnam era. I must confess to being a bit confused about the seam on the helmet now as this has a rear split but conforms to the Ebay guide.

I will now be looking on Ebay for a suitable cover. However I am not sure if I want an original item, as it might be better for me to get a reproduction one to wash out several times and personalise with graffiti?

The water bottles have some wear on them but smell neutral and look clean internally. They both have 1966 date stamps on them.

I again will need to look for some covers for them.
